The San Diego History Center, in the heart of Balboa Park, is the catalyst for the preservation and promotion of the history of the San Diego region. The History Center is committed to telling the histories of everyone in our community, including those who have been excluded from textbooks, or those traditionally left out of the historical narrative. In July 2018 we debuted the exhibition LGBTQ+ San Diego: Stories of Struggles and Triumphs, in partnership with Lambda Archives of San Diego. This ground-breaking exhibition runs through January 2020 and is curated by Lillian Faderman, noted LGBTQ+ author and scholar. LGBTQ+ San Diego: Stories of Struggles and Triumphs examines how this community has faced, fought, and continues to clash against persecution and intolerance with the goal of equality for all LGBTQ+ people.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, the companion exhibit Legendary Drag Queens of San Diego shines the spotlight on the performance art of drag in San Diego and its critical role in support for LGBTQ+ causes and philanthropy.

Open daily, the Center provides a wide variety of LGBTQIA+ programs and services including crisis counseling, individual and couple counseling, facilitated coming-out groups, and over a dozen LGBTQIA+ peer support and rap groups each week. Additional social, educational and cultural events, and information regarding community resources, as well HIV testing, counseling, and substance abuse information and referral are free. All of The Center's programs are transgender-inclusive and supportive, but they also offer services designed specifically for the transgender community through Project TRANS, the Transgender Services Program. Project TRANS (Transgender Referrals, Assistance, Networking, and Services) offers disFamily Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) offers high-quality and affordable LGBTQ Services to the community in a welcoming and open health care environment. We are committed to providing comprehensive health care services, including the full range of primary tend and reproductive health services, as successfully as connecting individuals with HIV or hepatitis to screenings and treatment, Gay Men’s Health Services including PrEP and PEP, Transgender Health Services, prenatal services and pediatric care and more.
We have been adj to providing compassionate, affordable, high-quality health care and supportive services for 50 years.
