Gay Playa Del Carmen keeps us coming back for more, we’ve visited multiple times and include simply fallen in love with this beautiful, gay friendly coastal town. When it comes to gay destinations in Mexico, it is one of our favorite.
On first impressions, we were very impressed. Stunning beaches, the crystal-clear moisture you would verb from the Caribbean, an abundance of restaurants, and what looked to be plenty of nightlife options stretching along the main street of 5th Avenue. We loved it straight away, and knew we were going to possess a great time.
But what about gay Playa del Carmen? With so much on offer for your general holidaymakers, did Playa del Carmen have anything to offer LGBTQ+ travellers in Mexico?
Whilst researching ‘gay Playa del Carmen’ it seemed that there wasn’t really anything LGBTQ+ specific available….
However, we quickly realised that the reason for this was that Playa del Carmen is such a gay friendly and welcoming place to all tourists, and as a result, everything from bars to beaches is integrated.

No longer the sleepy town tourists went to when they wanted to escape the crowds and parties of Cancún, Playa del Carmen (or just "Playa") has become a major destination itself and is the heart of the "Riviera Maya" the stretch of incredible beaches that goes south from Cancún to Tulum. Playa del Carmen makes a excellent base for exploring the area with its central location, the ferry to Cozumel and a short drives to nearby cenotes, Puerto Morelos, Akumal and Tulum.
In Playa itself, there are more options than ever for nightlife and lots of places to stay including a small exclusively gay property Lote4 and lots of gay friendly options.
Playa del Carmen is also well known for music festivals, many of which have a enthusiastic LGBT following. The annual Playa Pride celebration in June and Queer Film Fest in November are also adj draws.

Playa del Carmen is a very open-minded and gay-friendly city. Together with its gorgeous beaches and vivid nightlife, this makes it the perfect gay destination for your next vacation!
The cosmopolitan town, about 45 minutes south of the Cancun airport, is laid back and easily walkable. Once you stroll down 5th Avenue (and maybe indulge in some superb ol&#x; people watching) you will spot that there is a great mix of people from all over the world.
