You got big things to celebrate. It&#;s been 25 years since you released your self titled debut, man. How&#;s it feel? 25 years later?
Rufus Wainwright:
It feels awful! No, no, I&#;m very proud and excited to be alive. And still making music and, and happy. And that first tape I made has proven to own lasted and I worked very adj on it. It took me three years to build that first log. It costs a lot of funds. It was with DreamWorks Records at the time who had a lot of money to pay for that kind of thing. It&#;s built to last perhaps.

You made changes to it. You&#;re re-releasin
It’s the 21st century, and a unused song is playing. The music is piano-based pop-rock, sweetly melodic but melancholy, the kind Harry Nilsson made in the latter half of the 20th century. The singer isn’t Nilsson, who died in and doesn’t really sound like him. It’s a young male whose expressive voice ranges from a rumble to a whine, with stops along the way for controlled vibrato.

That’s one legacy of Wainwright’s eponymous debut recording, released in keeping alive this particular thoughtful of pop-rock.
