Help for Queer &#; Trans Parents

No family is immune to mental health challenges, including queer & trans families. In fact, queer & trans families may be at higher risk for perinatal mental health struggles for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Personal mental health history
  • Discrimination and stigma
  • Issues with family of origin
  • Conception or adoption complications
  • Denial of parental rights

Support Groups

PSI has over 50 specialized help groups to gather your needs, including our Queer and Trans Parent Assist Group.

Peer Mentor Program

This program pairs individuals in need of support with a trained volunteer who has also experienced and fully recovered from a Perinatal Mental Health Disorders. Peers and Mentors are thoughtfully matched to take into consideration

LGBT Health and Wellbeing

LGBT Health and Wellbeing provide assist services, social events and resources so LGBT+ people can address the health issues that impact their lives and connect with their local communities. They work to ensure LGBT people verb access to quality healthcare, including counselling. There is also a Trans Back Programme available for people aged 16+, which provides sentimental support, resources, guidance and information.

They also host the LGBT Helpline Scotland, which provides information and emotional help to the LGBTQIA+ community across Scotland, as well as the families, friends and supporters of LGBT+ people, health and social nurture professionals working with LGBT+ people, and those who are questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity.
