Pride month brings Novel York City its first full roster of celebrations since , and the queer community could not be happier. It’s no covert that LGBTQIA+ Pride month has its origins in Fresh York City queer history, with the Stonewall riots occurring in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village neighborhood in June The Modern York Police Department clashed with local Gay and Trans patrons of the famous Stonewall Inn bar on June 28, , arresting patrons under the auspices of ‘…congregating in an establishment without a liquor license.’ Many members of the queer community, including Trans men and women, drag queens, lesbians and gender non-conforming people gathered over the next six days at the Stonewall Inn to protest the community’s treatment at the hands of police, and one year later, ‘Pride’ festivities began culminating in honor of the protests which began the June 28th prior.

New York City's massive Pride celebrations have a thick and important history in the city. The first march was held in one year after the Stonewall Uprising, and the event has grown into an annual civil rights demonstration. Fast forward to , and a Pride march feels just as important and relevant as it did 55 years ago: Earlier this year, the government erased mention of trans people on the Stonewall National Monument's website.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The Fresh York City Pride March returned to a fully in-person event this Sunday. The theme is "Unapologetically Us."

Leading this year's march was influencer Ts Madison, comedian Punkie Johnson, educator/author Schuyler Bailar, artist Dominique Morgan and litigator/advocate Chase Strangio.

"At a period when LGBTQIA+ people are under increased attack, the NYC Pride March is a beacon of hope and community," said Bansri Manek, NYC Pride March Director. "Our grand marshals for this year truly embody the spirit of the theme for NYC Pride , 'Unapologetically Us.' They have embraced their identities and used their platforms to help members of our community truly love and stay their truth without fear or shame. They also exemplify the key themes of our Grand Marshal categories, including Trans Rights Champion, Social Justice Warrior, Behind-the-Scenes, Celebrated Luminary and Youth Activism."

NEW YORK - After two years of mostly virtual offerings due to the COVID pandemic, New York City Pride celebrations are back in with full-fledged in-person events, including the NYC Pride March a.k.a. NYC Pride parade, as adequately as festivals, parties, and more in Manhattan.

NYC Pride, a nonprofit organization, produces several LGBTQ events in New York City during Pride Month, including the signature parade celebrating LGBTQ pride, culture, history, and more. 

"The past few years have been incredibly challenging for Fresh York. Reviving the local economy is of vital importance, and tourism has long been the lifeblood of the city," NYC Pride co-chair Sue Doster said.
